Project researcher Julien Bétaille and lecturer in law at the University of Toulouse 1 – Capitole was interviewed in the French newspaper « Le Monde » about rights of nature in October 2022.

He was quoted denouncing “the technical smokescreen of an anti-democratic political project. It is obvious that, from the moment that rights are recognised for nature, the question of their confrontation with those of humans is raised.”

Bétaille added “Is there not a risk of a fantasised natural order prevailing, a true confusing mixture where everything goes which, in history, has led to the worst?”
